Household Staff

Nanny:

Is a very special individual who becomes the children’s best friend.  The Nanny works as a team with the parents by supporting them in providing care for their children.  The Nanny is responsible for managing the children’s calendars, driving the children to and from school and different activities, been alert in regards to the children’s safety and wellbeing. Also, the Nanny is responsible for preparing the children meals, stimulating their mental and physical development and in general everything related to them.

 

Newborn Specialist:

Is a person who is an expert in managing and getting newborn babies on regular schedule.  She supports parents with their newborn and their needs.  She is responsible for everything related to the baby and usually her commitments with a particular family are for 2 or 3 weeks up to 2 or 3 months depending on the parents’ preferences. 

 

Companion:

Is a person who assists and supports an individual in different ways when this individual is not capable of managing on her / his own.  A Companion usually works as a live-in and is on call 24/7 depending on the giving situation.

 

Personal Assistant:

Is in charge of managing the employer’s affairs with regards to their private, social and family life. Responsible to assist with errands and different engagements for the employer and their family if applicable.

 

Household Staff

Housekeeper / Houseman:

Is a person who is in charge of the deep cleaning of the residence making sure that every day, the house looks immaculate and organized.  Also, this person is in charge of reporting if any household cleaning supplies are running low or if any personal items need to be re-stocked. Some Housekeeper / Houseman can also do laundry and heavy duty tasks depending on the family’s request.

 

 Laundress:

Laundress: Is a person who is in charge of handling and caring for all the laundry and ironing for the family on the daily basis.  Also, she or he is in charge of maintaining the closets well organized everyday and making sure that all the garments are in good condition and ready to be worn.  Other duties are packing and unpacking the members of the family’s luggage for trips.   

 

Caretaker: 

Is a person in charge of maintaining the property in good shape in regards to maintenance/repairs, painting, gardening, fixing equipment and assisting the principals as needed with special projects and is able to address issues thay may emerge. 

 

Couple

Is a domestic team who typically takes care of the residence on the inside and outside.  It could be a combination of any two disciplines with its corresponding duties such as; Housekeeper and Caretaker or Chef and Nanny or Cook and Housekeeper, and more…depending on the principal’s needs.

 

Household Staff

Chef / Cook:

Is an individual who specializes in food preparation at different levels and have a great knowledge in a variety of local and international cuisine and is responsible for maintaining the kitchen clean and organized. Depending on the principal’s request, a Chef / Cook is required to cook for the family, the staff and for entertainment events. 

        

Chauffeur / Security:

Is an individual who is responsible for the transportation of the principal and their family members to any business, social or personal events. He or she is required to maintain the automobile in good condition and up to date with its requirements.  Depending on the principal’s needs, the Chauffeur / Security may be armed.

 

Butler:

Is a very formal individual who is in charge of overseeing and managing the household staff to ensure that the daily operations of the residence is smoothly and handle in a proper manner according to the principal’s expectations and needs.  A Butler has knowledge of formal serving and etiquette.     

        

Estate Manager / Property Manager:

This role varies depending on the principal’s needs.  An Estate Manager oversees the different properties by handling the capital for employees, reparations, restoration and all other challenges that may arise. He or she is required to travel in between properties to coordinate different projects and operations and also is responsible to staff the homes and train the new employees as needed. He or she has knowledge of managing accounts and reporting the expenses to the principal.  A Property Manager’s responsibilities are similar to the Estate Manager but focus on the operations of one property only.
